Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) is the longest-running travel exhibition that aims the promotion of domestic and inbound tourism. The annual event showcases Philippine destinations and updated tour product offerings for domestic and foreign visitors in the country.
Since the 1990s the Municipality of Kalibo through its Tourism, Culture and the Arts Division (TCAD) has been participating in the annual PTM. This year on PTM’s 30th Year, the Local Government once again showcased Kalibo last August 30 to September 1, 2019, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, not just a gateway to Boracay but a tourist destination in itself. With its Vibrant Kalibo Booth, Kalibo highlighted the Mother of All Philippine Festivals “Ati-Atihan”, the world-renowned Bakhawan Eco Park, and the Piña Cloth – coined as The Queen of Philippine Textiles.
“We also highlight the best foods in Kalibo aside from the tourist attractions and accommodations, because we believe that we should offer a complete experience when tourists visit our Municipality”, Ms. Rhea Rose Meren Division Chief of TCAD added.
Aside from the 3 major tourist attractions mentioned above, Kalibo also puts premium in its local history and culture through the promotion of the Aklan Freedom Shrine, Museo it Akean and the Kalibo St. John the Baptist Cathedral.
Present during the event is Mayor Engineer Emerson S. Lachica and Sangguniang Bayan Members of Kalibo.
The product partners of the Municipality in the PTM were, Analita Isturis’ Crispy Shrimps, Felicita’s, Sakanami, LTV General Services (T-shirts), Sunshine’s Pasalubong, Dela Cruz House of Piña and Culdora Piña Cloth. All the food products and shirts were sold out during the event.
